CoreMelt Complete V2.5 Shipping For FCP X and Motion 5 (and more)
Wednesday, November 2, 2011
It’s here! CoreMelt is now selling the full release of it’s plugins with some great new twists.
1- They are compatible with FCP X and Motion 5. Some only work in Motion 5 at this point in time due to technical differences between the two.
2- There are 8 new plugins!
3- One license works across all platforms!
4- Now works with Premier Pro CS4 or later, as well as FCP 6/7/X, Motion 4/5, After Effects CS3 or later.
5- GPU accelerated.
I’ve just run through the final release versions, and I’m just blown away. You can save your own presets, in FCP X there are on-screen controls in the Viewer. Controls that give you incredible control. A LOT to chose from in the Complete collection. And for only $199, it’s an unbeatable value!
In Touch With The End Users Reality
CoreMelt is in touch with us end users, they do video just like we do, they know what we need, they talk with and listen to us end users. I’ve met with the folks from CoreMelt in person for the past two NAB conventions, and they’re always great people to visit and work with.
Custom User Presets
Here’s the scoop on CoreMelt user custom presets, thanks to Roger Bolton at CoreMelt (and my deepest thanks to Ravian Budde for his assistance and cooperation over the past few years).
The first method is to save a “custom user preset” for future use and to share with others. At the bottom of the Viewer you’ll see some on-screen controls. Towards the right side is a plus sign button. This will make whatever you’ve just tweaked a custom plugin you can give your own name to. Very simple, right?
When you want to share that preset with others, go to [user home]/Library/Application Support/CoreMelt, and in there you can find your custom presets. They’re only about 45-ish K, so they’re really tiny. Zip up the file and email it to your friends. As far as I know CoreMelt is the only plugin maker with this type of system that allows us to do this.
The second method is to save a “customized template”. Go to the desired template in the Media Browser that you want to start with, right-click it and chose Open A Copy In Motion. There you can tweak the parameters to create a user custom “template”, save it as you would any FCP X template in Motion, and it will show up in FXP X’s Media Browser.
The Only Effects Plugin You MUST Have
I’m going to state right out front here, and you can quote me all you want, “CoreMelt 2.5 is the ONLY plugin suite you ever need to purchase, and is a must-have for any serious editor!” Period. There’s a free trial version you can download, too.
There is one drawback I found in FCP X (10.0.1), and that was a bit of system load they seem to bring on. But it’s not any worse than FCP X in other situations. The CHV keyer and other high end effects and very heavy compositing seem to do this, too. It’s nothing unusual, and I am confident Apple tweaks the render and processing engine in FCP X to clear this up over time.
CoreMelt Complete includes all of their individual collections:
• Gadgets has tools we all need like color bars, debayer, etc, very cool and actually useful stuff.
• Pigment has the best color looks and correction tools, like replace sky, that are must-haves!
• Luminous has the best glows and blurs you’ll find anywhere, just check out the God Rays.
• Shatter Grunge has the modern grunge, shatter, and stylized looks for cutting edge effects.
• Delta V has the best grunge and funked up transitions you could ever want.
• TRX has the film like transitions you wish you always had, but never could quite replicate.
• ImageFlow FX has image montage templates that make this type of work a breeze, and beautiful.
• VU has effects that react directly to audio for some killer sync’ed animations of all types.
If you spend any money on a third party plugin suite for FCP, Motion, AE, and now for PPro, spend it on CoreMelt Complete. Nothing else comes close, noting else is as useful, this just freakin’ ROCKS!
